I saw this floating around on Twitter and thought it might be useful for a getting to know me blog post. With 31 questions I will try and keep it brief but let’s be realistic, this is me, so it might be a long one!

  1. Who is the last person you held hands with?

I’m writing this in the morning so as is often the case, the answer is Tiny Human. I hold his little hands a lot, probably the most out of anyone at the moment.

  1. Are you outgoing or shy?

Probably outgoing. I don’t think anyone has ever described me as shy, but I do sometimes feel internally very awkward and wary about putting myself out there, I’ve been told many times that this does not seem the case.

  1. Who are you looking forward to seeing?

I see him everyday but Mr F has a big stretch of holiday coming up and I’m looking forward to seeing him more. Also looking forward to hopefully penciling in time to see my family this year.

  1. Are you easy to get along with?

I think so, I’m happy to listen to people chat about their interests and life, but I’m also very open so offer up my own thoughts too. I genuinely don’t judge and even I would have made a different decision, or don’t agree with someone, unless it’s an awful opinion they’ve shared, I’m happy to just leave it be and not cause unnecessary bad feelings .

  1. If you were drunk would the person you like take care of you?

Absolutely. I don’t really drink any more and when I do it’s only one or two, so being drunk isn’t a common occurrence and not something Mr F and I have done together a lot at all. One of the things I loved about him early on though was how he didn’t see someone being drunk as a burden. Considering I don’t get drunk often I’ve been made to feel by more than one person that I’m the worst person in the world for letting loose in that way.

  1. What kind of people are you attracted to?

Wow, that’s a big question. That could be a whole blog post in itself. I like kind, funny people who like to talk about things they find interesting. Looks wise, well that’s a very varied list. When I was single everyone was in with a shot it really came down to who I had good chemistry with.

  1. Do you think you’ll be in a relationship two months from now?

I bloody hope so! I’m expecting to be in the same relationship two years from now to be honest. I would be absolutely gobsmacked and blindsided if Mr F wasn’t here in two months time but I have my suspicions he’s not going anywhere, so we’re all good.

  1. Who’s on your mind?

Honestly, a couple of twitter folks who are having tough times. I can’t help, but they just seem so lovely and I hate that they’re struggling. It’s hard to see good people having rough times.

  1. Does talking about sex make you uncomfortable?

Not anymore. It absolutely used to though. I should probably blog about this here at some point. Now though it’s become second nature since blogging. I’m also moving into that phase of life of having to explain these thing to Small Human, I don’t want him to have the wrong information or feel like sex is bad or embarrassing, so I’m trying very hard to be comfortable having these conversations with him but I will admit that takes some practice.

  1. Who was the last person you had a deep conversation with?

Probably Mr F, but could also have been with some folks in a discord group. Then again for being 10, Small Human also has surprisingly deep conversations sometimes so he could be in the mix too.

  1. What does the most recent text that you sent say?

Okay, so I’m going to use WhatsApp/Messenger type apps for this answer and not anything social media based and it said … ‘People always stand in the kitchen at parties anyway, so that’ll be perfect!’ Which was to my cousin who is planning a party for her birthday in March.

  1. What are your 5 favourite songs right now?

Oh this is hard. I love music, and love so many songs but I haven’t been listening to a lot lately. So I’m going to pick 5 songs off the most recent playlist I listened too on Spotify …

  • Mr Jones by Counting Crows
  • In The End by Linkin Park
  • Bodies by Drowning Pool
  • Kryptonite by Three Doors Down
  • Higher by Creed
  1. Do you like it when people play with your hair?

I don’t dislike it, but it’s also not something I’ve ever asked someone to do or hoped someone would do. The person who played with my hair most is Small Human, he used to curl his little fists into my hair and knead like a cat! Tiny Human however isn’t that bothered by hair.

  1. Do you believe in luck and miracles?

Fuck! Not really, I believe in luck in terms of ‘it’s all just luck of the draw’. But I don’t believe we’re either imbued with good luck or bad luck. As for miracles, nah, I’ve needed too many in my life and never seen a single one. If miracles existed they’d show their face more. I believe in science and life being random, you can control what you can but you just have to roll with the punches for the rest of it.

  1. What good thing happened this summer?

So, this summer in my mind will be the summer of 2023 and that hasn’t happened yet. But last summer of 2022 I got to spend lots of time with my boys. We actually managed some days out after not being able to do that for a while because of covid.

  1. Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?

Yes! Would be very awkward breaking the news to Mr F that I wouldn’t! I like to kiss him every single day.

  1. Do you think there is life on other planets?

I think there is but I don’t think it looks like what we imagine it to be. I think it’s tiny life, not anything akin to human life.

  1. Do you still talk to your first crush?

You know what I actually do! When I was four there was a boy there who I just adored and I was convinced we would get married one day until I was about 11! We never got married, we never even dated but we are sto in contact and we message each other a few times a year to check in.

  1. Do you like bubble baths?

Ooh yes, I do! Sadly we don’t have a bath though, so I have to enjoy them when we visit places that do, which isn’t often so a bath is a real treat.

  1. Do you like your neighbours?

This ranges from ‘fuck no’ to complete ambivalence. I live in a flat that is a converted house, so there’s another flat upstairs. That neighbour is a total pain in the ass and I can’t stand her, or her friend who she gets around to also stick his beak into property issues that don’t concern him. Most annoying people in the world.

  1. What are your bad habits?

Oh! Well I’ve recently been told I’m quite stubborn! Which I suppose is true. I’m also terrible at asking for help and get far too caught up in my own head. The combination of those three things means I can need help, refuse to ask for it, refuse help when it’s offered and then cause a whole drama in my head about it. As you can imagine this is delightful!

  1. Where would you like to travel?

Lots of places. I haven’t been able to travel loads, but I’ve been to some places. I’d love to go to Mexico, that’s my big dream destination. I’d also love to visit more European countries. I’ve been to Germany but would love to go and see more of it. Also Italy is quite high up the list. Plenty of America I still need to see and also revisit, then if we had mega money for a long trip I think Japan would top that list.

  1. Do you have trust issues?

Miraculously I don’t. I really wouldn’t be surprised if I did mostly due to childhood experiences but on the whole I’m pretty good with trusting folks.

  1. Favourite part of your daily routine?

First tea/coffee of the day and bedtime.

  1. What part of your body are you most uncomfortable with?

Unfortunately it’s my ‘mummy tummy’. I am trying very, very hard to feel differently about it and I am getting there, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t still make me a little less comfortable with my body.

  1. What do you do when you wake up?

Well I have to go straight into mum mode with Tiny Human because it’s usually him that wakes me up. Then it’s time for a wee, pop the kettle on, put some clothes in the wash and then sit down with a cup of tea and some kids TV. This happens somewhere between 5am and 6am most days.

  1. Do you wish your skin was lighter or darker?

Neither? My skin is just my skin, I’m very pale and I don’t tan easily/at all, but it’s the skin I’ve always had and I’m used to it.

  1. Who are you most comfortable around?

Mr F, the kiddos and my wider family like cousins, uncles and aunts.

  1. Have any of your ex’s told you they regret breaking up?

Nope. Clearly they were all glad to see the back of me, lol.

  1. Do you ever want to get married?

Ooh another big question that has lots of components to it. The short answer is, I would get married again if Mr F decided he’d like to. He’s never had getting married on his to-do list, but I think currently it’s not a definitely not, but also not a huge priority. So who knows, maybe one day we’ll get around to it.

  1. Is your hair long enough to put into a ponytail?

Yes. Completely random question to end on but I tie my hair up most days into a messy bun.
